Today I want to talk about website conversions. We tend to focus a lot on website aesthetics nowadays, but a website is useless if it does not convert
! A website conversion could be any desired action on your website such as a phone call, a form completion, a purchase of a product, etc.
To drive action, a website needs to be able to persuade visitors and that is what most small business owners find hard to accomplish. My mentees often ask me for smart and efficient ways to boost their online presence and increase their website conversions
. There are, of course, many ways to achieve that, but most of them are quite expensive!
In my experience, to increase website conversions, there is one simple rule to follow which is both effective and cost-efficient. Focus on your customers - what is it that they will get out of consuming your products and services?
Think about the transformation that they will go through, just as I explain in this video.
Now, focus on the ‘after’ state of the transformation and the emotional state your customers are in after consuming your products. Try to imagine their feelings and emotions during that stage - is it excitement, self-esteem, sociability? Jot down all of those feelings and then use that emotional language on your website when describing your products
.
Marketing copy can be very powerful when used right and human emotions are the foundation on which all decisions are made. Therefore, the use of emotional language on your website will work wonders in improving your visitors’ overall experience and will definitely impact your conversions
. Try it today and I guarantee you will see some startling results!
